Despite numerous box office appearances, it is his voice and musical talent that Bowie is most famous for. Considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century, Bowie has sold a staggering 140 million albums, globally, and amassed eleven number one albums, five platinum albums, and nine gold albums in the United States on top of the ten Platinum Albums, eleven Gold albums, and eight Silver albums in the U.K.

Bowie married supermodel Iman in 1992 who claimed in a People magazine interview that she “Never fell in love with David Bowie,” before going on to say, “I fell in love with David Jones,” referring to her love for the man behind the persona.

While two of the most glamorous people on the planet, the two lived relatively normal, domesticated lives once Lexi was born with Iman revealing in an interview that she cooked dinner for her husband every night and that father and daughter would play their music together.

David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, just two days after his 69th birthday, of liver cancer. While he had been diagnosed 18 months earlier, Bowie never made the diagnosis public and continued to work throughout his illness completing the album Blackstar, which was released January 8, 2016 – a parting gift for his fans.

Iman, Lexi’s supermodel mom was born in Mogadishu, Somalia and in addition to her stunning beauty and work as a supermodel, she is also an actress, producer, and entrepreneur. Among her film credits are: Out of Africa in 1985, No Way Out in 1987, L.A. Story in 1991, House Party 2 in 1991, The Linguini Incident in 1991, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country in 1991, Exit to Eden in 1994, and The Deli in 1997.

Today, Iman is working on projects of her own with a cosmetics line, Iman Cosmetics; fashion line, Global Chic; and promoting her products and maintaining her family’s legacy. She is also extremely invested in various philanthropic ventures including Save the Children, the Enough Project, and the Children’s Defense Fund.

Coming of Age and What’s Next for Lexi Jones

Despite having two extremely famous parents, Lexi Jones grew up largely outside of the limelight. Her parents both scaled back their pursuits for domesticity when she was born and have since shown no signs of regrets.

Her parents also sought to keep her out of the public eye, to a large extent, as a child, so she could enjoy the benefit of a normal childhood. Now that she has reached her 18^th birthday she is venturing out on her own in the world of social media, largely through Instagram, and as an artist.

While Jones is not following directly in the footsteps of her famous parents, she is an artist in her own right with an Instagram account dedicated to her artwork: @unsettling.art. While her art is not yet for sale, she has indicated that this might be a temporary situation. Fans are encouraged to catch her work through her Instagram page and follow her pursuits on social media.

Only time will tell if Alexandria Zahra Jones ventures forth and surpasses the fame and notoriety of her famous parents. For now, Lexi enjoys a certain degree of anonymity that her mother hopes she will be able to treasure. Something many other famous children are unable to experience. For now, Lexi can walk down the street without crowds surrounding her. Her somewhat overprotective mother is very proud of that accomplishment. While all the agencies are knocking on her door to get Lexi to model for them, Iman understands, all too well, the challenges of modeling and hopes her daughter will continue on her different path.
