As a child star, Cameron-Bure was known for her ability to steal the show as the cute D.J. As an adult performer, Cameron-Bure has anchored reality shows, talk shows, and major motion pictures with relative ease. She is also married to a former NHL star by the name of Valeri Bure. Off of the camera, Cameron-Bure is a Christian activist and philanthropist who has spent time publishing her own collection of books.

Born to be Famous

Candace Cameron-Bure was born on April 6, 1976, to Barbara and Robert Cameron. Cameron-Bure was born in Panorama City, Los Angeles, where she would grow up and spend much of her childhood. Her brother is Kirk Cameron, a famous actor in his own right. Cameron-Bure spent much of her childhood working on television thanks to her family's easy entrance into the industry. Cameron-Bure began performing at the young age of five with a string of national commercial spots. She would also make several minor appearances on television before scoring her life-changing role in Full House.

At the age of 12, Cameron-Bure would find herself starring in Full House as D.J. Tanner. From there, her life has been completely in public life. Cameron-Bure says that she became a Christian at the young age of 12 and that her faith has been instrumental in the development of her life, her career, and her family.  Other than that, very little is known about Cameron-Bure's early days away from the set.

Successful and Varied Career

With most performers, it can be easy to separate their pre-fame and post-fame lives. With Cameron-Bure, those two lines have completely converged. After beginning her pursuit of an acting career at the age of five, Cameron-Bure would live her entire life in the public spotlight. After landing several national commercials, Cameron-Bure would find herself as a sought after child-actress. It wouldn't take long before she was pushing the limits of young-adult fame for her work on Full House (1987).

Cameron-Bure broke into the acting industry with several minor parts in the early 80s. Cameron-Bure appeared in Alice (1983), St. Elsewhere (1982), T.J. Hooker (1984), and Punky Brewster (1985) before really getting her feet wet in the industry. From there, Cameron-Bure would enjoy a short run on The Magical World of Disney (1986) as Samantha before landing the role of D.J. Tanner in Full House.  Cameron-Bure would star as D.J. for 193 episodes spanning from 1987 until the show ended in 1995. Following the end of the show, Cameron-Bure would stay close to the franchise. In 2016, Cameron-Bure reprised her character in the Netflix adaptation, Fuller House

After Full House came to a close, Cameron-Bure would meet her future husband at a charity hockey game. Valeri Bure and Cameron-Bure would begin dating in 1996, and they would be married that same year. Outside of her successful love life, Cameron-Bure was a busy television actress with roles in She Cried No (1996), NightScream (1997), and Boy Meets World (1997).

1998 saw Cameron-Bure give birth to her first daughter, Natasha, and her son, Lev, would follow in 2000. It was at this point in her life that Cameron-Bure became fully focused on her religion. She joined a Christian ministry in 2001 and her second son, Maksim, was born in 2002. Cameron-Bure would take an extended hiatus from the entertainment industry in order to spend time with her family.

When Cameron-Bure returned to acting in 2007 it would be on the Disney show, That's So Raven. Cameron-Bure would find herself back at the top of the game when she landed a leading role in the ABC series, Make It or Break It (2009). Cameron-Bure would appear in 41 episodes over a four-year period as Summer Van Horne, the mother figure in a series about young and aspiring Olympic gymnasts. Cameron-Bure would take that project and run with the momentum that followed.

Cameron-Bure would reach a new level of fame when she was brought on to host The View in 2015. Cameron-Bure would be seated alongside Joy Behar and Paula Faris. Despite her success on the show, Cameron-Bure would leave the program after nearly 300 episodes. Despite her quick exit from the program, Cameron-Bure still was able to  build her profile for another run of high-quality productions.

After her experiment on The View came to an end, Cameron-Bure was able to become the cornerstone of the Aurora Teagarden films on the Hallmark Channel. Cameron-Bure would make her debut as Aurora Teagarden in the 2015 film, Aurora Teagarden Mystery: A Bone to Pick. Since then, Cameron-Bure has appeared in a dozen films in order to reprise her character. Most recently, Cameron-Bure appeared in Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: A Very Foul Play (2019), Christmas Town (2019), and as the star of Fuller House (2019).

In her private life, Cameron-Bure is relatively closed off. She's a staunch conservative, a proud Christian, and a happy mother. She has three children with her husband, Valeri Bure.  Cameron-Bure has released several books throughout her career including, Reshaping it All: Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness (2011) and Balancing it All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose (2014). Cameron-Bure works with several religious foundations and is a motivational speaker for Christian ministry.
