“I don't date rock 'n' rollers. I just marry them.” Growing up in the heart of Los Angeles with A-list actors sharing the same zip code just a few houses away, Heather Locklear knew that she would one day join the ranks of Hollywood’s finest by paving her own path to stardom. Doing exactly that when she enrolled at the University of California-Los Angeles, academics were the last thing on Locklear’s mind as she started modeling for the campus store. It was only a matter of time before she appeared in series like Eight Is Enough and CHiPs in the 1980s before she met and befriended the legendary producer, Aaron Spelling.

Instantly impressing Spelling with her talent and beauty, he cast her as Sammy Jo Dean during the second season of Dynasty only to hand the young star a leading role opposite William Shatner in T.J. Hooker. Spelling was at it again in the 1990s when he cast Locklear as Amanda Woodward on Melrose Place, which aired from 1993 to 1999. Landing on her feet, Locklear had obviously found her niche on television as she snagged a starring role in the hit series Spin City from 1999 to 2002. Afterward, the blonde bombshell made appearances on shows like Scrubs and LAX before returning to the Melrose Place franchise in 2009 for a short-lived reboot.

With her career slowing down in recent years, the 55-year-old Locklear looks like she’s been spending her free time trying to turn back the hands of time only to be met with some mixed results. Rumors about Locklear going under the knife weren’t helped by the fact that she started dating renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Marc Mani in 2013. When the two were spotted walking around town, the tabloids went wild when they noticed that Locklear’s cheeks looked completely smooth and plump in addition to noticeable differences in her chest having increased a cup size or two! Of course, the tabloids weren’t the only media who noticed!

Comments on social media weren’t too kind to Locklear with one fan saying she was just “another former beauty who has ruined her looks in the futile effort to avoid aging.” Ouch! Others were convinced that Locklear’s relationship with Mani resulted in several Botox injections to keep her skin looking wrinkle-free; however, the injections seem to have a negative effect on her once natural beauty. “Her face sadly looks pulled and cat-like… poor thing has had too much plastic surgery,” another critic said.

Some experts argue that Locklear didn’t stop with Botox injections and might have also opted for cheek implants since the results are so extreme. After her 50th birthday, Locklear appeared to have much higher cheeks than before but, as you can imagine, none of the rumors have been confirmed. “There is no question that Heather looks great, but she appears to have had Botox and fillers,” one surgeon (not Dr. Mani) said. “Her neck and jawline also look improved which may indicate a surgical procedure such as a facelift or neck lift.”

So, will we ever know the truth? Even Locklear’s costars have remained tight-lipped about the actress’s obvious transformation in recent years. Her Scary Movie 5 co-star, Ashley Tisdale, said, “I don’t think she has aged. She’s beautiful [but not with the help of plastic surgery.” However, her former Melrose Place co-star, Jack Wagner, said, “It drove her crazy that she never hit another big moment after the 1990s.” Yet another source reported, “When people saw her as washed up, that made her crazy,” which only ignited even more plastic surgery rumors as Locklear’s desperate attempt to revitalize her career.

While it’s fairly certain that Locklear will continue to side-step any plastic surgery questions in the future, surgeons around the country are happy to weigh in on the Hot in Cleveland star’s changing looks. Dr. Sam Rizk said, “Her skin appears line free—perhaps, she’s had Botox. Her face looks smooth. We may venture to guess that she has had fat injections or fillers to restore lost volume.” Another expert says that Locklear also appears to have “had a nose job and breast implants toward the beginning of her career” and that she eventually switched over to Botox and filler injections to perfect and maintain her look.

Even if we never know the truth, it’s undeniable that the 55-year-old was one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood known for snagging bad boy rockers like Tommy Lee of Motley Crue and Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi. And, although her last silver screen role came in Scary Movie 5 in 2013, she may not be in high demand but that doesn’t mean she isn’t staying busy. In recent years, the blonde bombshell has enjoyed recurring roles on Hot in Cleveland and Franklin & Bash with her most recent stint as the First Lady in Too Close to Home, proving that not even a botched surgery can dim Locklear’s starring power.
