"Obviously, as you grow up, no one's ever 100 percent proud of every decision that they've made, and that's OK. I think as long as you learn from your mistakes and don't make them over and over again, you're on the right path." It's always good to know that even big stars make mistakes and have moments of uncertainty. Kim Kardashian (who has been known as Kim Kardashian West since her 2014 marriage to Kanye West) is no stranger to drama, mystery, problems, and the frustrations that come with being a public figure. But she also has a lot of wisdom to offer her fans, and many great years of adventure ahead of her.
Kardashian has been in several videos and TV series, including Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The success of that series led to a spinoff called Kourtney and Kim Take New York, along with the spinoff Kourtney and Kim Take Miami. But there's more to Kim Kardashian than just a reality TV series empire. She's also on social media and has grown a huge presence there, where hundreds of millions of people follow her photos and posts. There are products tied to her and that she endorses, including clothing, a photo book, and a mobile game. A lot of her media coverage is also based on her marriage.
How Kim Got Her Start in Show Business
Kardashian was born in Los Angeles, and she has three siblings. In 1991 her parents got divorced, and her mother got remarried to Bruce Jenner -- who is now Caitlyn Jenner -- that same year. That gave Kardashian two step-brothers and a step-sister, along with half-sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner. Kim went to Marymount High School, which was an all-girls school of the Roman Catholic faith. Her father is an attorney who took on several high-profile cases in his career. He passed away in 2003 from cancer. Kardashian developed a good friendship with Paris Hilton in her 20s, which is how she came to the attention of the media.
A video made with her former boyfriend Ray J was leaked to the media in 2007, and soon after that her family began their reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. It was very successful, and featured Kim, her mother and step-parent, three of her siblings, and her half-sisters. In 2008 she was in the film Disaster Movie, and also participated on Dancing with the Stars that same year. In January of 2009, she had a cameo on How I Met Your Mother. In addition to her TV and reality show success, she also had a company that offers fitness videos.
"At the end of the day, life is about being happy being who you are, and I feel like we are so blessed to have the support system and the best family to really just support each other no matter what we're going through," she has said. While her reality show may have seemed as though her life had a lot of drama in it, she was also very close to her family and very focused on a life that included all of them. Soon she began to get involved in fashion and retail, along with endorsement deals, and there as a wax figure of her created for Madame Tussauds in New York City.
From Reality TV to Super Stardom
"I'm a really nostalgic person. I love taking photos and video and having memories. I remember all my childhood videos that my dad used to take. I think that's really what life is about — especially when you start a family of your own." Kardashian's love for taking pictures and making memories doesn't disappoint. She's very active on social media sites where she frequently posts pictures of herself and her family and friends doing all kinds of things together. Since 2014 she has done less acting and more social media work, along with moving more toward the business side of her budding empire.
While most people post on sites like Instagram for free, simply because they want to share things with others, Kardashian's posts are worth big money. She's able to be compensated for her posts because she has such a large following. Companies will pay to have their products featured in her pictures, and used as product endorsement. In short, if Kardashian is seen using or wearing something, others will want to use or wear that thing, as well. Many companies have reached out to her in order to have their products endorsed in some way, even if that means just being included in one or more of her pictures.
