"I live without regrets. There are certain things I have done, mistakes that I made, that I would change, but I don't regret them at all, because I've learned from them." Depending on when you grew up, Lindsay Lohan was either an integral part of your childhood or the punchline at the end of a joke. In either case, Lindsay Lohan is a former child actress who has spent the bulk of her life in front of the public spotlight. Most well-known for her breakout performance in the film Mean Girls, Lohan has had the kind of career that sort of sums up Hollywood. Plagued by personal demons, Lohan has risen, and fallen, and risen, and fallen.

While Lohan spent most of her childhood living in Cold Spring Harbor in the suburbs of Long Island, she didn't stay far from the bright lights. Lohan began to perform in the entertainment world at the age of three when she booked her first commercial gig. Throughout the course of her childhood and into today, Lohan has appeared in 60 commercials and 100 total print ads. Some of her most high-profile young clients included Toys 'R Us as well as Duncan Hines. Those early commercials would be a big reason as to why Lohan quickly established herself as one of the biggest child stars in the world.

Becoming a Teen Icon

For Lindsay Lohan, fame came early and it came furiously. Lohan began working as a child model when she signed with Ford Models. Throughout her childhood modeling career, she would appear in 60 commercials that included corporate brands like Jell-O, Wendy's, and Pizza Hut. By the time that Lohan was ten-years-old, she was already booking roles in Hollywood. Lohan would make her break into the television world on the soap opera, Another World (1996) where she portrayed young Alli Fowler for four episodes.

Following her stint on Another World, Lohan would instantly transition into a leading role in a feature film. That feature film, of course, would turn out to be The Parent Trap (1998). In the film, Lohan played twin sisters who meet at a summer camp for the first time. They quickly band together in order to try to reunite their divorced parents, played by Natasha Richardson and Dennis Quaid. The film was a commercial hit and it received mostly positive reviews, with the vast majority of critics circling Lohan's name. Lohan would instantly become one of the most famous young performers in the industry.

In the blink of an eye, Lohan was suddenly everywhere. She began working closely with Disney on a number of different projects. Lohan would star in Freaky Friday in 2003 alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. The film revolved around the two stars switching bodies for 90 minutes of goofy fun. From there, Lohan would land a string of minor productions before becoming a teen icon thanks to the film, Mean Girls (2004). Mean Girls would mark a profound turning point in Lohan's career as she came into her own as a performer. The film was written by Tina Fey and it starred several major names including Lizzy Caplan, Amy Poehler, Tim Meadows, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Tina Fey. The film has since become something of a smash cult hit.

After the success of Mean Girls, you couldn't turn your head without seeing Lindsay Lohan in something. Lohan would join Disney yet again for another feature film, this time for Herbie Fully Loaded (2005). The film would earn $144 million around the world while also launching Lohan's star to a new level. During this time, Lohan would also begin to develop her music career. She would release Speak in 2004 to instant platinum status. Lohan's sophomore album, A Little More Personal, failed to really land with her audience. Lohan recently signed a record deal with Casablanca Records in order to record a new album for release in 2020.

In 2006, Lohan would drop her next major film, Just My Luck. The project would be received negatively by fans and critics alike. Lohan would end up winning a Golden Raspberry award which is, essentially, a sarcastic congratulation for being the worst performer of the year. It was during this period of her life that personal problems began to eat away at her career. Lohan would release a string of negatively reviewed films over the next several years as she struggled with her sobriety. Those films included I Know Who Killed Me (2007), Labor Pains (2009), Scary Movie 5 (2014), and The Canyons (2013). After attending rehab and focusing on other pursuits, Lohan has returned to Hollywood in order to revitalize her career. She starred in the television series Sick Note in 2018 before landing a lead role in Among the Shadows in 2019.
