Maddox Jolie-Pitt rose to fame in 2002 when he became the first adopted child of Angelina Jolie. Brought to America from an orphanage in Cambodia, Maddox saw his life change in an incredibly dramatic way. Jolie made the decision to adopt Maddox after visiting Cambodia several times for field missions as part of the UNHCR.  Maddox experienced notoriety as a child when the adoption agency that had worked with him was shuttered for violations. Jolie's adoption was still considered lawful, however.

Since coming to America, Maddox has grown into an enterprising young man. Initially a famous child, Maddox filled gossip magazines and website headlines due to his famous parentage. Despite his high-profile childhood, Maddox was able to be kept relatively off of the radar. By the time that Maddox was ready to join his parents in their acting work, the world of celebrity was ready for him. Since then, Maddox has appeared in several films, produced alongside his mother and father, and even begun to take interviews for himself. Maddox speaks multiple languages, loves playing the guitar, and lives on his own in a French villa.

Coming to America

Maddox Jolie-Pitt was born on August 5, 2001, in a tiny village in remote Cambodia. He was born with the name Rath Vibol, and that's who he would have stayed if not for a momentous visit from actress Angelina Jolie. At the time, Jolie was married to Billy Bob Thornton, another famous actor. The two met Maddox in Battambang at an orphanage. Jolie knew that she wanted to bring Maddox home with her, and so she immediately applied to adopt the young child. Maddox was able to take custody of the child in Namibia during her work on the project, Beyond Borders. After Jolie broke up with Billy Bob and began to date Brad Pitt, the two filed a petition in order to have his last name amended to Jolie-Pitt.

As a child in America, Maddox was quick to capture the attention of the American media. Why did that happen? Well, Maddox was an expressive child, to say the least. Maddox was always caught in photographs smiling, laughing, or making silly faces. Before long, Maddox was becoming his own type of star. It wouldn't be long before Maddox was ready for his close-up, but that's a discussion for later on. Despite his popularity with the paparazzi, Maddox is reported to not have very many close friends his own age. 

Maddox has five total siblings, of which he is the oldest. His siblings are Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. According to Angelina Jolie, Maddox has long been her 'pillar of strength' during trying times in her life. During her divorce proceedings with Brad Pitt, Jolie gave Maddox the choice of which parent to go home with. He chose to stay with Angelina. Maddox has repeatedly spoken out about his love for his mother. Before Brad had come along, Angelina had been a single mother to Maddox. Their close relationship is one of the more wholesome things in Hollywood, at least in our opinion!

Among his many life highlights, Maddox made headlines for visiting Queen Elizabeth II. Maddox and his family had been in the country visiting Buckingham Palace when the invitation was extended and consequently accepted. Maddox also had walked Angelina Jolie down the aisle during her wedding ceremony with Brad Pitt. While the marriage didn't last, it sure left a lasting impression on those who were in attendance.

Outside of his work in the film industry, Maddox has spent time operating on several major humanitarian projects. Maddox has worked with the United Nations in South Korea, alongside his mother, in an effort to improve humanitarian problems in the region.  Maddox has also considered pursuing an education in the country. Maddox operates his own social media accounts, and he posts frequently to his Instagram page.

Coming Out of His Shell

Being born into a superstar family certainly means that you'll have opportunities in the future. Having said that, most of Angelina Jolie's children have been hesitant to fully embrace their acting roots. With Maddox, however, things have been slightly different. Maddox has been attending events with Angelina and Brad since he was a small child. His early fascination with the industry would allow Maddox to make his TV debut in 2006 on the reality show, VH1: All Access.

After appearing on television as a baby, Maddox would begin to take his work a little more seriously. Maddox would make an appearance in his father's starring vehicle, World War Z (2013) as an uncredited zombie.  From there, Maddox would be brought on as a crew member for the small 2015 film, By the Sea. The project starred both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and it revolved around the broken marriage between the two main characters.  Maddox has also worked as an executive producer in the industry. Maddox is listed as an executive producer on the film, First They Killed My Father (2017).  The film was penned and directed by Angelina Jolie and it revolves around the human rights activist, Loung Ung.
