Neve Campbell was born on October 3, 1974, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Campbell was born to Marnie and Gerry Campbell. Marnie worked as a psychologist and yoga instructor in Canada, but she was originally born and raised in Amsterdam. Her father, Gerry, immigrated to Canada by way of Glasgow, Scotland. In Canada, Gerry taught high school drama classes in Mississauga, Ontario. Campbell grew up with three brothers: Damian, Alex, and Christian.

At the age of two, Campbell's parents would end up getting divorced. By the time that she was six, Campbell knew that she wanted to work in entertainment. After having seen The Nutcracker on stage, Campbell would enroll in ballet at the Erinvale School of Dance> Eventually, Campbell moved to the National Ballet School of Canada where she began to train for a professional career. Campbell would star in Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker before suffering serious dance-related injuries.

Campbell would have to put down her aspirations of becoming a ballet dancer in order to transition into a career path more suitable for her post-injury body. Campbell would begin acting at the Canon Theatre in Toronto while she attended the John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute.

Life in Hollywood

It wouldn't take long for Campbell to begin working in Hollywood. By the time that 1991 had rolled around, Campbell had already appeared in a Coca-Cola commercial. From there, it wouldn't take long for Campbell to start racking up the credits. Campbell would land her official television debut in the series, My Secret Identity (1991). She would follow that project up with an appearance on The Kids in the Hall (1992) and The Dark (1993).

While Campbell was active early on in her career, she wouldn't really bring any national attention until her leading role in the series, Catwalk (1992). Catwalk was a young-adult television series set in Canada that would only run for a single full season. Thankfully, Campbell did enough to gain major attention, and she would soon land a leading role in the hit television series, Party of Five (1994).

Party of Five would bring Campbell to a level of fame that she wouldn't have been able to dream of. Campbell played the role of Julia Salinger, an orphan, who moves to the United States from Canada. Campbell starred in the show until the series until she decided to walk away in 2000 to pursue more film work. Along the way, Campbell would see the series rewarded with a Golden Globe Award for Best Drama.

While Party of Five was bringing in the viewers, Campbell was also spreading her wings in a variety of dark films. Campbell would land a leading role in The Craft (1996) alongside Robin Tunney, Rachel True, and Fairuza Balk. The film became a summer hit as it earned $55 million against a budget of just $15 million. Campbell would stick with horror films as she landed the leading role in Scream (1996) as Sidney Prescott. The film would become an instant hit in both the box office and the critics' booth. Campbell would score a Saturn Award for her work in the film before reprising her role in Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), and Scream 4 (2011). Ebert wrote of Campbell's performance, "THe camera loves her. She could become a really big star and then giggle at clips from this film at her AFI tribute."

Outside of Scream, Campbell struggled to cement herself as a mainstream performer. She would appear in several films during the early 00s including Panic (2000), Last Call (2002), and The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride (1998). Outside of film, Campbell would look to make her mark on the stage. Campbell would appear at the West End theatre for her debut in the play, Resurrection Blues. She would later perform in Love Song alongside Cillian Murphy.

Most recently, Campbell has been attached to the hit Netflix series, House of Cards (2016) as Leann Harvey. House of Cards has become one of the strongest performing shows in the entire Netflix catalog and her performance was generally well-received. Campbell also appeared in the hit action film Skyscraper as Sarah Sawyer, wife of Dwayne Johnson's leading character. The film would become a box office success. Campbell has only a few projects in development including Castle in the Ground (2019), Rain, and Bremen Musicians.

When Campbell isn't working on television, she is spending time working for several advocacy groups. Campbell is a supporter of finding a cure to epilepsy. The Campbell family is also an official 'spokesfamily' for the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada. In her personal life, Campbell is dating long-time boyfriend, JJ Feild. Feild and Campbell have one biological child and they adopted their second child.
