"Sometimes people will bring up these odd things that I did a one-off from. Like, I did a 'Knight Rider,' and I'll get an E-mail from a 'Knight Rider' fan who says, 'Look what I did to my car!' And I don't know if you know about this, but there is a sub-cult of 'Knight Rider' fan who trick out their cars to look like KITT. I'm, like, 'Really? Isn't there anything else you can do? Do you make that much money? Because I have projects I'd like to get off the ground, so how about you don't make KITT and you give it to me?'" Robbie Rist has always been quick-witted, and he seems continually surprised that people remember him from some small thing he's done instead of something much larger. But where did he start, and what's he doing now? Here's what you need to know about the actor.

Acting as a Young Child

Robbie Rist got his start in The Brady Bunch's final six episodes, where he played Cousin Oliver. He also played in Grady, which was a spin-off of Sanford and Son. But that wasn't all he did. He's also been a voice actor and had roles in a number of other shows and films. The plan for Rist in The Brady Bunch was to introduce a young child into the mix, because all the other children were older then. But the idea didn't work, because the network had already decided that they weren't going to renew the show before Rist made his debut. After that, he played Little John in Big John, Little John. He was on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and The Bionic Woman. Additionally, he was on Revenge of the Nerds, Galactica 1980, and Whiz Kids.

In 1986, Rist was also in Iron Eagle. While it was critically panned, it was a hit at the box office. In 2006, music, film production, and acting were all a part of Rist's repertoire. Rist produced a comedy/horror film, and was also in Sharknado. A friend of his was interested in the film, and Rist said he would get involved if the friend did. Sharknado was his first red carpet premiere, and he was excited for it even though he'd been in acting for a very long time. In addition to the acting that Rist did so much of, he was also focused on making and producing music. His voice-over work level was growing, as well, and Rist had the opportunity to do so much more with what mattered to him. Since that time, he's continued to build a career that's strong and varied.

Rist didn't always want to act, even though he started out in it when he was very young. He enjoyed acting, but it wasn't something he planned on doing for the long haul. Instead, he had other ideas. About what he wanted to do when he grew up, he has said, "I might have been too tiny for it, but I wanted to become a professional tennis player. I was a pretty good tennis player as a kid, but ultimately I just don't think that I have that jock mentality needed for sports." He may not have had the right mentality for sports, but he certainly had what he needed for entertainment pursuits. His voice-over work continued to grow and develop, and he worked on making more music in order to have his hand in more than just the acting genre.

He has been in a number of rock bands in the Los Angeles area, and has been a lead singer, a guitar player, a drummer, and a bassist. There are literally hundreds of bands on the West Coast that Rist has performed with, but many of them have not been successful over time. Even though Rist wrote and performed much of the music for Sharknado, he has also worked on a lot of other musical pursuits. He has also worked in advertising, by promoting TV series on specific networks. With so much going on in his life, it's clear that Rist isn't done yet and still has more to offer to his fans.

He has worked in anime and video games, as well, with both music and voice-over work. With so much in Rist's past, it's clear that he's been interested in several different areas of the entertainment field for a very long time. It's also likely that Rist will continue to do more in each of those areas, and that people interested in his work will have more to see in the future. Fans should stay tuned, to see what Rist does next.
