“Are you stalking me? Because that would be super.” Only 15 years old when he landed his first acting gig in 1991 on a Canadian teen soap opera that made its way to the United States as Fifteen, Vancouver native Ryan Reynolds found early success as he starred opposite Melissa Joan Hart in the television movie Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Well on his way to stardom by 1998 the young Canadian won over the world as medical student Michael “Berg” Bergman on the hit series Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place. By the time the series wrapped in 2001, Reynolds found himself as a silver screen star in National Lampoon’s Van Wilder.

Perhaps more than anything else, Reynolds has established himself as one of Hollywood’s favorite superheroes in the last decade after first wowing the world as Hannibal King in the 2004 film Blade: Trinity. From there, he starred as Wade Wilson’s Weapon XI in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and as the titular character in Green Lantern before completely taking the box office by storm with Deadpool in 2016. With Deadpool pulling in nearly $800 million around the world, it’s not only Reynold’s biggest career hit, it’s also the most successful movie in the X-Men franchise and the highest grossing R-rated film in history.

Ever since he first took the stage in Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place as a bright-eyed, ditzy pretty boy making his way through medical school, Reynolds has always been hailed as a good-looking guy but that isn’t to say that he hasn’t made some noticeable improvements as he’s climbed to even greater fortune and fame in Hollywood. If you remember, the Buried star had somewhat of a baby face in the late 1990s, which many attribute to the fact that he was barely in his 20s. Still, he’s only gotten better looking with time leaving rumors to run wild that he’s been a frequent flyer in the plastic surgeon’s office for quite some time.

Celebrating his 40th birthday on October 23, 2016, it’s remarkable that Reynolds has barely shown the slightest signs of aging with absolutely no discernable wrinkles on his face, which many say is the benefit of getting regular Botox injections. Of course, a quick look to the silver screen in recent years is absolutely no help since Reynolds’ superhero costumes typically mask his face especially in Deadpool where makeup and prosthetics were used to give him the appearance of being disfigured from disease.

Beyond the Botox injections, there are plenty of rumors that Reynolds has undergone a rhinoplasty much like his wife of four years, actress Blake Lively, had done herself. While it wasn’t hard to convince tabloids that Reynolds’ nose was different with a smoother and more rounded tip and a smaller bridge than at the start of his career, there was little doubt when his high school yearbook photo surfaced on the internet showing Reynolds with a much wider nose. Was the change surgery-induced or a natural part of aging? We may never know for sure!

It’s been quite some time since Reynolds made any comments about his personal life especially after addressing rumors about his health in 2007. Describing a brief fainting incident, Reynolds said, “I don’t know what happened. I was walking through the bathroom in my house, I went down. I smashed my head open, blood poured everywhere and then I got plastic surgery to fix it.”

Although Reynolds never addressed the type of procedure to fix the gash in his head, surgeons agree that his 2007 surgery doesn’t appear to be cosmetic. However, that isn’t to say that he hasn’t had anything else done. After analyzing before and after photos, a few surgeons believe that the Definitely, Maybe star opted for lip injections to correct his extremely thin lips. They also suggest that he has had possible cheek or chin implants to create a more masculine look fit for a Hollywood superhero. Others, of course, argue that Reynolds is one of the hottest men on the silver screen thanks to his boyish charm and incredible sex appeal from staying in fantastic shape.

Whatever the case—whether it’s the result of Botox injections, cheek and chin implants, aging naturally, staying fit or finally growing into his looks—it’s hard to deny that Reynolds is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood today. Still a heartthrob at 40 years old and frequently listed at the top of the Most Beautiful People and Sexiest Men Alive lists, nothing seems to stand in the way of stardom for Reynolds. Recently named as the Sexiest Dad Alive by People magazine, the Canadian hunk truly seems to have it all with a handful of projects in the works including The Hitman’s Bodyguard and Life and, more importantly, Blake Lively on his arm and two children at home who adore him.
